mg to units converter for prescription labels

Convert between milligrams and U-100 insulin-syringe “units” only after you enter the concentration on your pharmacy label (mg/mL). It checks arithmetic for a prescription you already have from a licensed prescriber. It is not a dose recommendation.

Enter a concentration, then milligrams or units.

Formula: units = mg ÷ (mg/mL) × 100. Volume (mL) = mg ÷ (mg/mL). Assumes a U-100 syringe where 100 units = 1 mL.

How the conversion works

  1. Read the concentration printed on your prescription label (for example “5 mg/mL”). If it isn’t printed, ask your pharmacist.
  2. To go from a prescribed milligram amount to syringe marks: units = mg ÷ concentration × 100.
  3. To go from syringe marks back to milligrams: mg = units ÷ 100 × concentration.

What this tool will not do

  • It will not suggest a dose, schedule, or peptide.
  • It will not assume a concentration for you.
  • It does not replace your prescriber or pharmacist.

mg to units FAQ

What does “units” mean on an insulin syringe?

On a U-100 insulin syringe, 100 “units” marks equal 1 mL of volume. The mass of drug in that volume depends entirely on how concentrated the solution is (mg per mL). The same “10 units” can be different milligram amounts if two vials have different concentrations.

Why does the tool ask for the concentration first?

The same number of units holds a different amount of medication at different concentrations. A converter that assumes one fixed concentration can give you the wrong number. Use the concentration printed on your pharmacy label, and ask your pharmacist if it is not printed.

Is this a dosing calculator?

No. Virtual Care Atlas does not recommend doses. Ask your licensed prescriber and pharmacist what volume to draw for your prescribed dose. Use this page only to check arithmetic when you already know the concentration and the prescribed milligram amount.

Does Virtual Care Atlas sell peptides or syringes?

No. We are a free clinic directory. We do not sell medications or supplies. Prescriptions come from a licensed prescriber and are filled by a licensed pharmacy.
